7 Keys to a Profitable Coaching Program
Jun 04, 2024Hey, what's up!!
Carissa Here!
Bruce and I both like to keep things short and sweet to the point. The last thing we want to do is waste your time. We understand how precious time is; we have 4 kids, including 5 year old twins. Running a business already takes time, but running a business, learning a skill, and keeping up with the Jones' is no easy task.
So, let's highlight the main reasons why you want to read this blog, and you can decide if it is worth spending time on. It should only take a few minutes but will move the need for you if and only if you are:
- A coach who is looking to build a successful business
- A coach who may have a profitable business but knows and understands something may be missing. You're not performing as well as you should.
- A coach with some courses online but has made little to no money with them.
- And lastly, if you're a coach who has clients but is having trouble keeping them long-term.
So, let's dive into the world of creating a profitable and effective online health or life coaching program! It involves careful planning and strategic execution.
Here are seven steps to guide you in developing such a program:
1. Identify Your Niche and Target Audience:
This includes finding and building out your ideal client avatar! The riches are in the niches! This is something so many coaches face, and it's a shame because coaches have so much to give. We were on this boat once, and it went on the high road to nowhere. Determine the specific health or life coaching area you want to specialize in. Understand who your ideal clients are, including their needs, challenges, and goals. This will help you tailor your program to meet their specific requirements.
2. Develop Your Coaching Framework:
This is going to be the seasoning of the meat and potatoes in your program. When you have an Ideal Client Avatar, you have a process and a framework you can use to take them through. If you have had to customize and tailor your services for each client, you have not targeted one type of client, and you can find yourself spreading too thin. Don't get me wrong; your framework shouldn't be too rigid, but it should have some wiggle room for customization. Create a structured program that outlines the journey your clients will take. This should include the goals, or I like to call them milestones, that they will achieve, the strategies you will use, and the timeline for the program. Your framework should be flexible enough to be customized for individual client needs but structured enough to provide consistent results with each client.
3. Choose the Right Technology Platforms:
Ooooh, this one is important! All of these steps are important, but this one will be the home of your program. You want to select something you will use in the long term, not the short term. What I have seen time and time again is new coaches selecting a platform to get them by until they can transfer to another platform. You want something user-friendly, easy to use, and can give you a professional look.
There are 4 platforms I would be sure to spend my money on when building a coaching biz.
1. Kajabi. 2. Calendly, 3. Zoom 4. Canva (if you create your graphics) Bonus Platform: Slack or Whatsapp (for client communication, but these are free)
But if you want to weigh your options, remember to select the appropriate online tools and platforms for delivering your coaching services. This includes video conferencing tools, client management systems for scheduling and follow-ups, and platforms for sharing resources and communications.
4. Create High-Quality Content:
So, High-quality content doesn't always mean having the best equipment or the best editor. Remember, people are here for the content and not the quality of the video. Right this down on a while page, people want your information and knowledge over the quality of the video. When we say high-quality content, that means developing engaging and informative content that will form the backbone of your coaching sessions. What plays a role here is your style and charisma. That just means to be you. And if you don't like how you sound or present things, shoot us a message about your struggles around this. There could be something we can help with there.
Otherwise, be yourself and embrace yourself. If you don't like how you sound, it's probably because it's been a while since you've connected with your true nature. Think of it this way: how were you as a kid? Were you energetic, were you shy, were you smart, creative, or innovative? What kind of things are you into, and what lights you up? What made you excited to get up every day? Connect with that little person inside and be them because that is you! Many, if not all, of us have dimmed our natural way of being, and people want realness. So, it's okay to make a mistake. We are human. But don't take my word for it. Take your own, do you like realness? Do you like authenticity?
These are just some thoughts to chew on and ponder. Do what you are comfortable with and go from there. That's all. Just start.
Some content pieced might include video lessons, worksheets, eBooks, and interactive tools. High-quality content is crucial for educating and motivating your clients as well as establishing your credibility as a coach.
5. Market Your Program Effectively:
This step will only work if you have the other 4 things. I had a friend who ran FB ads, and they tanked because she didn't have an ideal client avatar or a framework for her potential clients.
Of course, there is a general framework that every coach has. The one you got from your certification school, right? It won't work in the long run. To market your program effectively, you must know your ideal clients and how to solve their problems. So, let's get into this: to market your program effectively, you utilize various marketing strategies to reach your target audience. This can include social media marketing, email campaigns, blogging, webinars, and partnerships with other health or life coach professionals. Make sure your marketing messages clearly articulate the benefits of your program, what makes it unique, and the problem you solve.
6. Offer Personalized Coaching and Support:
Sell what they want and give what they need. All clients need support of some kind. Provide personalized attention to your clients through one-on-one sessions or small group meetings. And there will be a time when you go from 1:1 clients to transitioning and playing a bigger game. This is what Bruce and I specialize in. This personal touch can significantly impact client satisfaction and success rates. Additionally, support can be offered through regular check-ins, feedback sessions, and adaptive plans that respond to client progress.
7. Measure and Adapt:
Write this down: what gets measured gets improved. For example, I had a hard time losing weight. I hired a coach and everything, and I got results, but they didn't stick long-term. Then, I noticed what I stopped doing. I stopped measuring anything. My weight, my calories, my macros, and even my activity. I stopped it all because I got results. So, naturally, things declined and stopped improving. So make sure you are making sure your clients are hitting their milestones, challenge them if they aren't, and regularly assess the effectiveness of your program through client feedback, progress tracking, and success rates. Use this information to adjust your content, coaching methods, and marketing strategies. Continuous improvement will help you stay relevant and competitive in the market.
These are the 7 keys to a Profitable and Successful Coaching Program.
